Title: Sebastian Cabot (1474-1557).
Description: Sebastian Cabot, son of John Cabot, who had sailed to North America in 1498, was an accomplished mapmaker and navigator. He led several voyages of discovery during the Tudor period, sailing under both the English and Spanish flags. He also supported the expedition of Willoughby and Chancellor, aimed at finding a north-east passage to the Far East, and was the first head of the Russia Company (formed 1855).
