Description: The Blackwall Railway Company's railway terminus occupied the space between the East India Docks and the Brunswick wharf and pier. In the 1840s, boats ran from Blackwall to Gravesend every half hour, performing the passage from the terminus to Gravesend in one and three quarter hours with the tide, and two and a quarter hours against it. Brunswick Wharf was opened for the reception of steam packets on 6 July 1840.
