Description: The decision to build Tower Bridge was controversial at first. Many felt it would ruin the view of the Tower of London. To avoid this, the bridge used a pseudo-historical neo-Gothic exterior, which masked its highly modern design. More than a century after the opening of the bridge, the early controversy has long been forgotten, and the Tower and the Bridge seem harmonious neighbours. |
