Description: The 'James Newman', one of the diesel boats used by the Woolwich Ferry since 1963. The Woolwich Free Ferry, opened in 1889, had used paddle steamers until that date. The ferry has survived the demise of the Royal Docks and the Woolwich Arsenal, and still carries a significant volume of traffic. |
