Description: A later depiction of the infamous pirate Captain William Kidd at Gardiners Island near New York, where his crew is burying the treasure captured during his voyage to the Indian Ocean. Kidd was hanged on 23 May 1701. The first rope around his neck broke and a second rope had to be used before he was finally killed.
