Description: The coaling pier at Greenwich power station stands on sixteen Doric-style, cast-iron columns. Coal was landed from colliers onto the pier, and then sent to a large system of bunkers. The pier is no longer in use. In this contemporary photograph, the Millenium Dome can be seen in the distance on Blackwall Point. |
