Description: The twenty-four-hour electric slave dial was made by Charles Shepherd as part of the system supplied to Greenwich in 1852. This was the first clock dial to provide Greenwich Mean Time to the public. The minute and seconds hands are conventional but the hour hand goes round the dial once in twenty-four hours. Thus, at midday the minute hand points to the top, but the hour hand points to the bottom.
