Dockers re-united - 25 November 2003

'Dockers re-united', the PortCities event that brought together retired London dockworkers, was a resounding success. ITV London News came down to HMS President to film the event, which was covered on the 6pm news.

The dockers, who worked on the Thames when London was the biggest port in the world, gave an invaluable insight into their daily lives in the port. They also answered questions from Year 6 students from Rangefield Primary School in South London. Both students and dockers learnt much from each other.

Coming soon...

The dockers’ memories and their often hilarious anecdotes will be posted onto the PortCities London website, so visitors to the site, as well as future generations, will be able to view and listen to the video and audio footage from 'Dockers Re-united'. Bookmark PortCities and watch for more details!
