Patsy Collins

Patsy Collins

Name:  Patsy Collins

Age:  79

Live:  London

Place of birth:  Stepney

Job on the river:  Patsy went to work in the Regent's Canal Dock in 1950. He joined a ship gang that looked after him and taught him many of the skills needed to be a docker.

Feelings about dock closure and regeneration:  The changes to the retirement age in the 1950s forced many old dockers to leave their jobs. Many men, in their 70s and 80s, were upset that they had to leave work.
