The West India Dock Company traded with the West Indies. All exports to the West Indies had to be loaded in their docks too. The export dock had about 10 hectares (24 acres) of water.
They imported goods such as sugar, coffee, flour, cocoa, and spices and exported clothes, tools and machinery to the West Indies. Many cargoes were imported from the empire and then re-exported, this was a large part of British trade.
