Description: The London County Council's sludge boat 'JH Hunter' (1924), under way at Gravesend in August 1932. The sludge boats carried sewage sludge from the treatment plants at Beckton and Crossness to Barrow Deep and Black Deep, beyond the mouth of the Thames Estuary.
