Description: For many centuries Billingsgate wharf was the main mooring for fishing vessels, and a fish market soon developed here. As well as fish, corn, salt and malt were also landed here. The market was rebuit in 1850, and this site closed down in 1982, when the market was moved to the Isle of Dogs.
