Description: The site of the Brunner Mond Works - scene of the Silvertown disaster in 1917 - was never built on. It is now used as a car park towards the north end of the Thames Barrier on North Woolwich Road. Nearby to the car park, at Crescent Wharf, is a memorial to the victims of the disaster, which was unveiled in 1920.
