Title: The Peninsular and Oriental Steam Navigation Company's ships, Indus and Ripon.
Description: The P&O's iron paddle steamers 'Ripon' (1846, 1509 GRT) and 'Indus' (1847, 1386 GRT) were built at Money Wigram's Blackwall Yard. They both operated on the Southampton - Alexandria service. The Blackwall Yard had been divided in 1843 between Wigram, who had opted to build iron ships, and Richard Green, who did not.
