Title: Sextant, c. 1855.
Description: A silver framed sextant made for the Prince of Wales. Janet Taylor was engaged in teaching navigation and selling nautical instruments. Her navigation warehouse was at 104 Minories near the Tower of London. She corresponded with Captain, later Admiral, Francis Beaufort when he was Hydrographer to the Navy, and also with George Airy, the Astronomer Royal.
