Title: A view of the Commercial Docks at Rotherhithe.
Description: These docks were formed on the south side of the Thames, on the eastern part of the Rotherhithe peninsula. In 1864, the various docks in this area merged to become the Surrey Commercial Docks. The docks at Rotherhithe were employed mainly in receiving the trade from America and North Europe (timber, hemp, corn, iron, tar etc). The docks closed in 1970.
