| Description: Dutch fishermen had continued to supply the City of London during the Great Fire of 1666. As a reward, they were granted a monopoly on selling eels at Billingsgate. The Dutch eel boats were a distinctive feature of the Upper Pool, and remained as a fascinating curiosity until well into the 20th century. |
