Title: St Katharine's Docks from the Basin, by Thomas Hosmer Shepherd.
Description: The St Katharine Docks were built between the London Docks and the Tower of London. They were designed by Thomas Telford. He was assisted by Philip Hardwick, who was later to design the portico at Euston Station. The two men collaborated on the designing of the warehouses and other buildings. The waters consisted of a large basin of one and a half acres leading two docks of four acres each. These were surrounded by warehouses of yellow brickwork, six floors high, supported by heavy Tuscan columns.
