Description: A common feature of Somali communities in London is the establishment of internet cafes, much to the benefit of the local communities. Somali was first written in a modified Latin script in 1972, and this has made it easy for Somali communities in Europe and North America to become literate in their own language as well as those of their new settlement. The adoption of this script has also made it easy for Somali communities around the world to communicate by email.
