Portuguese fishermen and boats, Nazare, Portugal.

Portuguese fishermen and boats, Nazare, Portugal.
Portuguese fishermen and boats, Nazare, Portugal.

Repro ID: H5092
Description: These boats are similar to those of ancient Phoenicia and Malta, with their high prows and "eyes" to ward off evil spirits. The falt keels are adaptations to allow the boats to be easily hauled onto the beach, as ther is no safe mooring from the Atlantic swell along this part of the coast.
