Repro ID: H5016
Description: Walmsley's Maltings in Bromley by Bow, where malting had been carried on for over 50 years. This was typical of industries making use of the port, Thames or canals - in this case the River Lea. In the foreground are several lighters and a lighterman poses for the camera. The buildings were demolished by the London County Council in 1934, and a housing estate was built on the site.
