Description: North Woolwich Gardens, once a remote leisure attraction, gained a poor reputation in the latter 19th century and was closed for a period of time. It was re-opened as the Royal Victoria Gardens and became a popular and quiet promenade area. It is sited on the northern bank of the Thames about 100 yards from the Woolwich Ferry pier.
