| Description: Greenwich Park was the first of the Royal Parks, opened in 1433. It has been open to the public since the 18th century. The first Ranger of the park was Charles Sackville, Earl of Dorset and Middlesex, who was appointed in 1690. At first, the Rangers resided in the Queen's House, but from 1816 Chesterfield House (built in the early 18th century) was used as the Ranger's residence. Today it is cared for by English Heritage. |
