Title: The town of Sydney in New South Wales, by Major Taylor.
Description: Sydney was Australia's first settlement. It started as a tent city around the good, natural harbour. Life was hard at first but by 1850 the town had theatres, street lights and libraries. One emigrant wrote of 'handsome stone villas ... beautiful green water ... yellow sand ... this, after all was Sydney, was Australia ...(it) gave me the impression of being in a delightful dream'.
