Description: An oil painting by war artist Stephen Bone depicting the Mulberry Harbour off Arromanches. Five Phoenix caissons have been sunk in a line to form the main harbour wall. The concrete caissons were built amid great secrecy around the British coast. Many were built in London’s docks and on the Thames.
