| Description: In February 1895, a severe cold spell created huge ice floes on the Thames. Although the river did not freeze over, the ice played havoc with the workings of the port. The ice floes in Greenwich Reach were photographed by the local optician W. Hudson. This picture, taken off Deptford looks east towards Greenwich. Several lighters lie abandoned in the river. |
