| Description: Travel during the Blitz was made difficult because the streets and roads were blocked by masonry, bomb craters and burst mains. The rail and underground stations were damaged and the lines were often cut by bombs. As soon as the 'all clear' siren sounded, repair parties immediately set out to clear damage roads and railway lines in order to keep London moving. |
