| Description: Londoners soon came to rely on the tireless dedication of its Civil Defence workers for their survival once the Blitz had began. The capital was harder hit than any other British city, both in number of bomb attacks and number of casualties. It was attacked at some time during the day or night, with the exception of only two twenty-four hour periods, for the whole of September, October and November 1940. |
