Title: The ruins of South Hallsville School.
Description: The destruction of the South Hallsville School in September 1940 was one of the worst incidents during a war in which children were directly in the firing line. Between August 1940 and 10 May 1941 5,028 children were killed during the German raids on London. That figure would have been much higher had the authorities not organised the evacuation of thousands of children to the countryside soon after the outbreak of war.
