Description: Viscount Horatio Nelson (1758-1805) joined the navy at the tender age of 12 and became a Captain at the age of 20. He saw service across the globe, from the West Indies to Canada and the Baltic to the Nile. After his death at the Battle of Trafalgar in 1805 his body was preserved in a keg of naval brandy. Nelson was buried in the crypt of St Paul's Cathedral after a state funeral that included a procession on the River Thames.
