Title: The last Boreman boy, George Frederick Berry.
Description: George Frederick Berry entered the Royal Hospital School in Greenwich in May 1927 and was discharged to HMS 'Fisgard' as an ERA (Engine Room Artificer) apprentice in December 1931.
The 'Boreman boys' were those who received an education at the RHS thanks to the Sir William Boreman's Foundation, dating from a bequest in 1684. The link with the RHS, begun in 1886, was severed when the School moved to Suffolk. The Foundation still provides awards for the education and training of young people resident in Greenwich and Lewisham.
