Description: A view of Tower Bridge on a hazy day. No vessels are approaching, so the bascules are down to allow road traffic to cross. For Henry Tomlinson and many others who watched the ships visiting the wharves in the Upper Pool, Tower Bridge was like "the gates to the outer world".
