Description: Visitors in the Painted Hall, Royal Hospital Greenwich. The painted decoration took nineteen years to complete and was carried out by James Thornhill. It was finished in the early 18th century, and the Hall lay empty until 1806 when the body of Horatio Nelson lay in state there. Soon after it opened as the naval museum. The drawing is signed and dated by the artist.
