Title: The Superintendent's House at Woolwich Dockyard.
Description: The old Superintendent's Office at Woolwich Dockyard. After 1832 the senior officer of each dockyard was a serving sea officer, and not a civilian employee of the Navy Board, as it had previously been. The size of the yard influenced whether the senior officer was a superintendent, an admiral or captain-superintendent.
