| Description: From the mid-19th century onwards there have been factories producing submarine cables and associated products in Greenwich and Woolwich. Until well into the 20th century up to two-thirds of the world's submarine cable was made at the Telegraph Construction and Maintenance Company (Telcon) (now Alcatel) works on the Greenwich Peninsula. |
