Title: Crew of the South Goodwin light vessel.
Description: On Saturday 27 November 1954, the South Goodwin Lightship became the first Trinity House lightship to be wrecked. She broke from her two huge sea anchors in winds of over 80 mph, and was broken up on the Goodwin Sands, a notorious stretch of shoals and sandbars off the east coast of Kent. There was only one survivor from the tragedy, Ronald Murton, who desperately hung on for eight hours awaiting rescue.
