Title: HMS Warrior. Description: Although the 'Warrior' was one of the greatest single developments in warship design, there were problems when it came to her strategic deployment. The marine fouling of her iron hull was a serious concern, and in order to avoid her speed being greatly reduced she had to be docked every ten months for repair. Apart from taking the ship out of service on a regular basis, this also restricted her movements, as there was an absence of docks of sufficient size outside Britain. Due to her size, only three docks in the world were able to receive her - Portsmouth, Liverpool and Southampton - all in England.
