Description: The V2 had a considerable psychological effect on Londoners as, unlike the V1 Flying Bomb, which made a characteristic buzzing sound, the V2 travelled faster than the speed of sound, with no warning before impact and no possibility of defence. This photograph shows the devastated Woolworth's store at Deptford, hit by a V2 rocket on 25 November 1944.
