| Description: In September 1878, the pleasure steamer 'Princess Alice' was broken in two during a collision with the collier 'Bywell Castle' on the Thames off Woolwich. The 'Princess Alice' sank almost immediately with the loss of 640 lives. This ticket is for the fateful trip. To it are attached a piece of wood from the wreck of the 'Princess Alice' and the inscription 'Pa decided not to go on trip after he had bought ticket'. |
