Description: Norwegians celebrate May 17 as Constitution Day, to commemorate the constitution that guaranteed Norwegian independence from Denmark in 1814. St Olav's Church in Rotherhithe, which originally catered for Norwegian seamen on their brief visits to the port of London, now ministers to a much more settled and diverse community of workers, students and tourists. It is still at the heart of the Norwegian community in London, and organises the annual Constitution Day celebrations in nearby Southwark Park.
