Description: Five barges in Greenwich Reach in the first half of the 1930s. In the background are several wharves on the Isle of Dogs. These included Maconochie's Wharf, site of an important food-processing plant; Locke's Wharf, site of the Millwall Lead Works (with the large chimney); and St David's Wharf, owned by the Manganese, Brome and Brass Company, manufacturers of ships' propellors.
