|Description: One of the the earliest departure and arrival points for steamship services in London was the Steam-Boat Pier near London Bridge. This engraving shows several paddle steamers with Rennie's new London Bridge in the background. This was the scene so artfully described by Charles Dickens in his novel 'Martin Chuzzlewhit' (1843).|
