Description: The Co-operative Wholesale Society's flour mill at the Royal Victoria Dock. The Co-operative Wholesale Society (CWS) was founded in 1863 as part of the co-operative movement. The CWS set up its own factories to process the food and other goods required by its customers, and control its own imports. It had its own plantations in India from which it imported tea to Britain using its own ships.
