Description: 'Blacklegs' were strike-breakers. Several are shown here using a crane to discharge a ship in the London Docks during the General Strike. Several thousand Londoners volunteered to work during the strike in order to maintain public transport, operate the docks, supply power and distribute food. This caused much bitterness among the Londoners who had supported the strike and there were several cases of blackleg buses and lorries being stoned by strikers. |
