Title: Site of the old East India Company Yard.
Description: The East India Company built ships in Deptford from the 17th century onwards, both in its own yard and later in the private establishments that flourished in the area during the 18th century. By the early 19th century however, the Company was forced to look elsewhere for its ships as government orders kept the Deptford yards busy building warships.
