In January 1806, Nelson's body was buried in the crypt of St Paul's Cathedral in London, after a colourful state funeral.
Huge crowds attended five days of ceremonies:
- in Greenwich
- on the River Thames
- in the streets of London
- in St Paul's Cathedral.
It was a demonstration of the widespread affection in which the dead hero was held.
