The Museum worked with older members of the community at the Age Exchange Reminiscence Centre in Blackheath and The Forum @ Greenwich, and a youth group from the Greenwich Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme.
Our volunteers shared their thoughts and memories through a programme of reminiscence sessions, practical workshops and day trips.
The port of London has always offered its residents and workers a wide range of leisure activities, from the cinema and theatre to sports clubs and pubs, as well as pastimes unique to the area such as river trips and excursions to local beaches.
Then:
Everybody used to join in… It was a big get-together, you all had a drink, you had a
round each, it was so different.
Now:
I'm not really into local football, I've only watched
Millwall play. I'm more into international football.
