Description: The training ship 'Exmouth' was first established when the Admiralty loaned HMS 'Exmouth' to the Metropolitan Asylums Board for use as a Poor Law Training School in 1876. The school trained the boys in all aspects of seamanship, preparing them for a career at sea. Every year about two hundred boys from the school would enter either the Royal Navy or the Merchant Navy. In 1945 TS 'Exmouth' was lent to the Incorporated Thames Nautical Training College and renamed HMS 'Worcester'.
