| Description: Deptford Power Station was designed in 1889 by Sebastian de Ferranti (1864-1930), engineer to the London Electric Supply Corporation. Ferranti was a pioneer in the practical uses of electricty. He promoted the installation of large electrical generating stations and alternating-current distribution networks in England. Ferranti also assisted Sir William Siemens in experiments with electric furnaces and dynamos. |
