The inhabitants of the former Portuguese colony of Goa. They are also known as 'Goanese', and in Portuguese documents until the eighteenth century as 'Canarese' or 'Canaris'. Though the Indian state of Goa includes the territories of Goa, Daman and Diu. The people of Daman and Diu are usually termed 'Damanese'.
